5FDP isn’t maybe the best music I’ve ever heard, but their Legacy sure hits hard

I do not get the haters on here and no way you are true 5FDP fans leaving one star reviews. I got plenty of bands and albums that deserve one star reviews, but this band and album certainly isn't one of them. Keep up the great work fellas! See you soon.

Legacy is supposed to be a comeback and celebration of 20 years of success according to the band. However it feels soulless and empty. Instrumentally it’s fine, it’s heavier than Afterlife but it doesn’t sound like anything from the first 3 albums like they said they were reaching back to. Production wise, it’s fine. It doesn’t feel like the vocals and the instruments are fighting each other to be heard. Ivan has some subtle but obvious layering and editing to his vocals because despite what most fans think, he doesn’t have the ability to hit these harsher notes anymore. Lyrically, this is reaching back to AJFN territory of corny and stupid. It’s either, “I’m crazy and you are not.” Or “I’m the devil, fear me.” Or “I’m sad.” I want a legit death punch fan to look me in the eyes and say these lyrics are impactful and meaningful. Song structure is pretty cut and dry, I wish they would’ve done something different with their stuff but what you hear is what you get. I’m not saying they need to do a slamming brutal death metal song but do something different than just chugga chugga or a 3 chord riff. And the AI generated material they so love to use makes this album feel cheap. Wether it’s Promotional/Announcement material, lyric videos, album artwork and Merch to some extent. And their attitude towards anyone who calls them out is as follows; .Stay silent .Double down on it .Try to pass it off as a joke .or in my case, Get blocked on socials (which is hilarious considering this a band with such thick skin apparently) I’m done with these guys. Like done done. I don’t care if they put out a deluxe with 10/10 songs on it. I’m completely checking out. This album can sit comfortably at a 3/10 (Poor) or a 2 out of 5 for me.

Oh, and Legacy! This album, like any after their first 3 albums, could have more growls, screams and breakdowns, but this album was a pleasant surprise compared to the previous couple albums. I love when Ivan screams/growls, the man can do it so effortlessly and it sounds awesome, he’s a beast of a vocalist. However I feel like he is holding back, like he’s on a leash or something because we all know what he’s capable of. I’m pretty sure he loves the heaviest parts of the songs which would be where he would showcase his vocal capabilities, but like I said, it’s like he’s on a leash. Everything five finger does sounds the same because the band is so monotonous, Ivan always sounds the same in every song, the music sounds the same. He is a monster of a vocalist, and I hope they unleash him on the next record like he was on Way of the Fist, War is the Answer and American Capitalist. Five finger writes awesome breakdowns and I hope to hear more. Get out of your comfort zone and stop playing it safe and get heavy again, you guys already got rich and sold out, time to bring back the heavy. Like bring me the horizon is
