“hurt like that” is so beautifully orchestrated. the hurt/pain is not over-sung. there’s a stillness, because the truth of the moment cuts so deep that anger and heartbreak blur together into numbness. even when reba’s voice rises, it’s tender which makes the ache even more piercing. part of you wants to be furious at the man, while another part just mourns for her, but the performance keeps you suspended between those two emotions.
