One of the things I have always loved about the Pumpkins is that they blended heavier songs in with mellower songs and had songs that incorporated elements of both. I think the producer hid Billy’s distortion pedal in the studio. I’m not sure there is any distortion on the album at all. There are a couple of good songs that would have been great sprinkled amongst some bangers but amidst an entire record of soft rock, it just doesn’t work. Billy is one of the most prolific songwriters of his generation and it’s tough to write a massive volume of awesome songs. I respect the fact that the band likes to mix things up and am sure some fans will enjoy it, but it isn’t my cup of tea.

This is their weakest album. Not sure what happened, but I loved their last albums, especially…Atum, was on repeat for weeks.

It’s okay. Really miss the days of Mellon collie and Siamese dream. Even Oceania was solid. This is kinda wussified. Jimmy chamberlain is still solid. But these songs don’t really rock or go anywhere.

This record is so mellow and good. The band sounds good. Billy sounds good. It’s different and unique. I like the evolution. Streamed it like 10 times before I pulled the trigger. Now it’s my tea time record.

I bought the vinyl the day it was available and it’s a excellent album. A Beatles/happy/hippy/trippy/psychedelic sound that’s with new and refreshing songs. I gave it a 4 because a 5 is perfect and I don’t hand out 5 stars easily. Still it’s a damn good album.
