  • Nine Inch Nails has always been a good band

When I heard the were doing the music for Tron. I was bursting with excitement. But just thought of how it fits in. When you think of it, the logo always looked cool as black. But when you saw it as red, it felt like that’s how it should always have been. Trent, this had to have been some of the best Tron music I’ve heard in a while. I enjoyed songs like As Alive as you Need me to be and New Directive. Shadow over me is good, but maybe could have some more vocals in it. When you watch the movie, it’s like the music seamlessly ties into the movie. With songs like Empathetic Response having that more bit like sounds. It’s like everything you’re hearing is getting digital as you make the jump to the grid. Another good one is New Directive which comes in the best time (Spoiler Alert) as Ares switches colors from red to white. Kinda like in Tron Lightcycle/Run (Maybe Spoiler if they bring it back) where Master Control takes over and says this “I am Master Control and have token over. Your new Directive,” catch he said “new directive?” That is maybe a reference to the song and have more evidence with the room changing from blue to red. But in my personal opinion, the best song for the playlist is As Alive as you Need me to Be. Yet again, Nine Inch Nails, you guys are the best!
  • Great Movie Soundtrack

Not sure why some of these people thought it was going to be a full blown NIN album. It was made for the movie. That’s it. The fact that it has 4 songs with lyrics is a bonus. The soundtrack still reeks of NIN, which is awesome!! A few of the tracks are probably a little too long, but some are very short. Again… it’s a soundtrack for a movie. Expected. I personally like quite a few movie soundtracks. Brings me back to cool moments in the film. Great soundtrack!!
  • It is what it IS folks…it’s called a soundtrack

That being said…these tracks were more than likely made to go in the background of said movie. So it’s odd that folks were expecting more of a NIN album which would honestly probably have more of the vocal tracks you’re looking for. That being said…their style of Industrial Rock with its roots being in Electronic/Rock music pair quite nicely with said themes of antihero darkness and technology of which the film’s theme is centered around. Thanks for reading n hope this helped.

They could never hold a candle to Daft punk! Yet is is the only thing left that’s keeping tron alive! Plus there only two good tracks from this album!

Absolutely what I needed and wanted. Reznor aesthetics in a soundtrack. Perfection.

The score for Tron Ares was awful.
  • Great effort by Nails

Not a NIN fan per-se, though I like some of their better-known tunes. As a lifelong Tron fan, buying the soundtrack was more out of a sense of duty than desire. Carlos set the benchmark. Punk killed it on Legacy. I think NIN did a fantastic job, and seemed the logical choice given Trent's aptitude for writing scores for film, TV, even video games. I only wish there were more vocals, more pulse-pounding tracks, and a bit of orchestra which was notably absent.

A dark, pulsing blast of industrial music — cinematic, and full of raw energy. Cold, precise, and powerful.
