I have been listening to AFI since the 1990s when they played hardcore punk, and I happily followed them into the goth/emo punk era where they made their best music. THIS….is not it. This is the first time I can truly say that I have no idea what’s going on with the band and what they are doing. I grew up listening to Depeche Mode and The Cure, and this is like a bad copy of it with the wrong synthesizer. This is a terrible album and frankly, I can’t stand it. I don’t know what is going on with some of these bands like AFI and 30 seconds to Mars, where they are completely losing their way and calling it “evolution“. This album is a flop and I’m sorry to say that if this is their new direction, I’m not following them.

Feel like a soundtrack for a Munsters on acid spin off show…. So bad…. Miss the real afi. December underground, black sails, Even crash live was good…. What is this sad just sad. Sorry not sorry

Behind The Clock, Holy Visions, Blasphemy & Excess, and Nooneunderground are the highlights with the latter being the surprisingly best song.

Goth is alive and well! AFI is back with a new sound and a new evolution! Absolutely beautiful and haunting! True AFI fans get it.

30 minutes of garbage. What happened to AFI? This album is awful. Terrible. Just quit already.
  • Hauntingly moody, deep, soothing…leaves me wanting more

I LOVE this new album! It is definitely a shift from the typical AFI that people have become used to. But I was ready for a change, as I haven’t bought an album since December Underground (and own all others prior). Granted, I will say I’m a big fan of the post punk, goth rock genre and this is very reminiscent of that era. Davey’s voice is perfect for this style of music and I love the direction this album took. I bought the album the day it was released and have listened to it many times, without wanting to skip any songs. If anything, I wish the album was longer…
