My First Time Listening to Matt

Super taken with this album. I beat myself up a lot too, and it would have been easy to just make it that, but Maeson ends it all on a positive, hopeful note of lessons learned that I find super touching. Love the melodic, slow burn effect so many of these songs have before reaching great heights. Favorite tracks are In My Arms, Cursive, and All My Wars. (The one caveat: could super do without the cursing. Rating it 5 stars because the music is good, but would love to have a clean version.)

Both songs are Truly breathtaking/heart breaking - I spent a lot of time Listening to the rest of the album - I love it.

If you’re a fan of Matt Maeson’s music, you’ll like this album. It’s got a lot of the slower and deeper songs similar to his previous album, Never Had To Leave. If you liked songs like Nelsonwood Lane and A Memory Away off of that one, you will love this one.
This album continues Matt’s journey in making emotionally powerful songs. The kinds of songs that appear during the third act of a dramatic movie, or at the climax of an episode of a TV show. Or hey when you wanna have a sad day to yourself- that sorta vibe.
There aren’t as many power pop type bangers on this one- for the fans who are familiar, there’s no Cringe or Cut Deep on here, though he tries his best with Downstairs, which is a decently fun single.
It’s a little short at only 38 minutes, but that’s ok when the songs are this heavy. Again, established fans will enjoy this a lot. But if you’re new to Matt’s music, start with Bank On The Funeral and have your mind blown, then circle back here later.
