Chromakopia by Tyler the Creator Tyler the Creator released Chromakopia on October 28th 2024 as more of an experimental album, combining some of his most liked albums like Flowerboy, Igor and Call Me if You Get Lost. This album was like he combined all of his past lives into one album. Throughout the album you get songs that mix different music genres like, jazz, soul, synth-heavy textures, and the occasional raw, stripped down beat. This can sometimes take away from Tyler’s typically fully cohesive sense of the album with not as many songs really fitting together and creating heavy style switches as you listen to the album. This album is one of his more bold releases carrying some extremely meaningful songs through the track. Chromakopia overall revolves around his self-identification and his identity where he tries to find who he is beyond fame and he starts questioning his past personas. He also explored his growth and maturity with the switches between lyrics that are driven by his ego and then to the more personal and meaningful lyrics. His album, Chromakopia, also goes through his constant battle with control vs chaos, while the title of the album might suggest color and creativity which we get with “Sticky” it is very much an overwhelming mental landslide with “Like Him” being the staple heavy hitting song of the album. While this album is very consistent with being introspective and vulnerable you still get that funny and confident Tyler with songs like “Thought I was Dead” and “Balloon”. With songs like this they are balanced out the songs that convey his insecurity, reflection on relationships and his thoughts on the pressure of success, his singing often switching between rap, melody, and a more spoken style of singing adding a very emotional element to his songs. One of the most listened to songs and the statement song of the album in my opinion is “Like Him” where he really dives into his problems with his absent father where he actually did early in his career with the song “Answer”. This is the most emotionally driven song exploring not only his problems with his father but also his identity and inherited traits from his father and his fear of becoming someone you do not even fully understand. Tyler talks about the struggles with growing up with an absent father, between not even knowing who he really was to hearing things second hand and even him trying to build an image of a complete stranger. This creates a powerful mix of curiosity, resentment and emptiness in the song. Nature vs Nurture is another theme that is hidden in the song, with the central tensions of if his dad was around and Tyler seeing parts of his dad in himself really giving the idea that some traits are inherited and you can be like someone you’ve never met. He also talks about masculinity and his vulnerability towards it. He doesn't try to act though he does the opposite, he admits confusion and how hurt he is. Tyler delivers this song in a calm but extremely heavy way, he doesn't sound angry but instead more conflicted. He paces the song in a manner that allows you to be able to process it as you listen. Like Him is not just about him not having a father, it is also about figuring out who you are without the full picture or no picture at all, it also is about choosing whether to just repeat your story or to rewrite it and make the change you need.

With all these people saying this album is bad you really don’t understand what big T does for us to make this kind of music and all his albums have a story to them and this one is just talking about his deep feelings, with the people saying Noid is bad, you obviously haven’t listened to the whole song cause he talks about him being paranoid about his fans always wanting photos and videos and he doesn’t like that. Everyone who put one star, re listen to this album without skipping

I was listening to the Ebro show on Apple Music when Noid started playing. I had never heard of Tyler the Creator before so I had no idea what type of music he made but that song instantly made me want to hear more from him. I remember setting an alarm for 3:00 every day just so I could hear Noid again because the single hadn’t released yet. To add to that Chromakopia came out on my birthday which I thought was so special but you probably don’t care :/. This album is definitely not for everyone. If you don’t like music thats boom bop bam and in your face then you probably won’t enjoy this one. But if you do then I HIGHLY recommend you listen to this one. Not a song on here is a skip

Not even sure what genre of music this is supposed to be but nowhere close to rap

if you rated this 1 star, whats wrong with you? i dont understand the hate towards this tyler the creator album. of course its not the best in the entire world, however, it shows a soft, emotional side of tyler. it shows his struggles and deeper into his life. it shows the real reason of his fathers “leaving”, and “Like Him” is sort of a part two to “Answer” except Answer was more of a raw and emotional story… in conclusion, probably one of my favorites due to its relatability in certain aspects :)

His music is so talented he explains how he feels in all his songs💕
