Fear Inoculum

Let me start by saving that I love tool, but this album is probably their weakest. The biggest problem that I have with this album is some of the songs are too long. This album does have a couple good songs and there are some moments of classic tool on here but I don’t think this was worth 13 years. A great analogy for this album would be Tool’s Chinese democracy. I hope one day we get another tool album and it will be great.

This probably my favorite song and album

I’ve been listening to Tool for more than half of my life. It’d be an understatement to say that this band means the world to me. After quite a bit of deliberation I have come to the conclusion that Fear Inoculum is my second favorite album of theirs after Aenema. It is Tool at its most mature, at their most experimental. The bass, the drums, the guitar and the vocalist are all at their apex of complexity. Wizened by years and experience this album has transported me to places I didn’t know possible on multiple occasions. All I have to say is that if you’re a fan and are not bought in right away, give it some more time. This is a slow burn and to me is the most purely creative endeavor of their entire careers.

This record is DENSE. Give it time to sink in, use good headphones. The vibe is unassailable as is the musicianship. My superfan nerd complaint is that MJKs vocals fell a bit flat for me… There’s so little of him on the album. When there is, there’s no power outside of a few moments on 7empest. He’s voice is still great, just wish he’d use it a bit more often. Tremendous musicianship, as should go without saying. And as usual a labyrinth of amazing songwriting. Please continue to make music guys.

Danny Carey is widely considered one of the greatest drummers of all time. His style is this unreal mix of precision, power, polyrhythms, and deep, almost mystical timing. On Fear Inoculum, he’s especially insane — blending complex time signatures, tribal rhythms, and jazz influences into something that feels primal and futuristic at the same time. A lot of his drumming is inspired by sacred geometry and even mathematical patterns, which gives Tool’s music that hypnotic, otherworldly pulse you can almost feel in your bones. Tracks like “Pneuma” and “Invincible” absolutely blew me away, with “Fear Inoculum” itself standing as my third favorite. Each song feels like its own universe — emotional, powerful, and endlessly layered. They leave you feeling like you’ve traveled somewhere far beyond yourself. Tool created something eternal with Fear Inoculum. It’s not just music you hear — it’s music you live. Pure art.
